About 5–6 hours through the UP and into Wisconsin — though if history is any indication, we'll make it in less. Good beverages loaded, good music on, and the UP doing what the UP does. Windows down when it warms up enough to earn it.

Boutique B&B right on Lake Michigan. Private balconies, waterfront rooms, genuinely charming. Drop your bags and take a breath — you're in Door County.

No agenda tonight except finding a good winery. Door County has 19 of them along the Wine Trail. Shouldn't be hard. Jill and Jill will not be wasting a single hour of it. The guys will follow along happily and pretend this was their idea.

Start the day with breakfast at The Blacksmith Inn, then take a walk on the beach. No tee time until 1:00 — Door County in May doesn't get much better than this.

Horseshoe Bay Golf Club

Tight tree-lined fairways hugging the shoreline of Green Bay. More strategic than it looks at first glance — exactly the kind of course that separates the competitors from the tourists.

Designed by Art Johnson and opened in 1980, Horseshoe Bay is consistently ranked among Wisconsin's Top 5 public courses. It rewards smart positioning over raw power, and punishes overconfidence in the most polite Wisconsin way possible.

Carved from the cherry and apple orchards that define this part of Door County. Wide fairways, subtle elevation changes, stunning in spring. The kind of course that makes you want to book the return trip before you finish the back nine.

Designed by Larry Packard and opened in 1999, Orchards at Egg Harbor is ranked the #1 public course in Wisconsin by Golfweek. A parkland layout that opens up beautifully in May — this is Door County golf at its finest, and a worthy closer to the weekend.
